RedditRadio 003# is ready to rock your head! I think we’re getting most of the audio issues smoothed out. This week we are featuring two artists from we are the music makers. The opening music is Veto Taut with Untitled 3 from the collection january samplebot. The Closing music is from St. Clare, and it’s titled The Device – III. Alfred P. Allsgood is Somewhere Else from the album 100 Years of Cracks in the Floor. I must say I am very impressed with the quality of music submitted for the show, and the full set of tracks from both of these artists would make a welcome addition to any playlist.

We discussed some interesting topics this week, and I feel that it has become neccessary to include links to some of the things we talked about. Well.. since I’ve got all this time I had set aside for editing the show, I decided to update the site a little.  I’m adding links to supporting sites, resources, music,  and previous shows which can be found at the bottom of the main page rather then navigating the archives to find what you’re looking for. I’m going to shoop-da-woop a quick logo for the subreddit, please save the world from my skills and submit your own.  Looks like I fail at the custom CSS, we’ll pimp our sub-reddit another day.  That’s about it for now, just trying to make it easier to find the shows.

Reddit Radio #003 the Rennisance of the Internet

In other words… we had some fail dere.

First… you #$%s were all at the bar and I was lucky enough to have a friend of mine drop in to help out.  Crimany was there, and we all had a great time without you, discussing the Renaissance of the Internet, Vaginal Appendectomys, and all sorts of groovy stuff.

Second… interestingly enough most likely due to some error on my part I forgot to turn the recording machine on. (Though I remember doing it) So I suppose it was not meant to be last night.  No worries… every show needs a lost episode.  I’ll be looking for people tonight or tomorrow night to join in for a do-over. Since it was lost in the sands of time, I’ll announce here last nights show resulted in the creation of a new subreddit (perhaps the first subreddit creation to happen on a recorded show).  It is a response to this post. – instead of voting for a dick of the year, now you all can vote for a dick of the month.  At the end of the year,  each months winner (person, place or thing) will be voted on and a winner (failure?) for the year will be announced.

I contacted kn0thing to see if the results for the best-of-reddit 2008 were available. If so, we might end up doing an awards type show, if not this week, then whenever they are released for sure.  Thanks to wearethemusicmakers for their great response.  Now I’ve got a ton of new music to listen too, some of which will end up the show.  (end the show, not end up in the show)

All right, It’s that time again!

Glad to hear everyone loved last weeks show.  Well get ready for the next one.  I’ll try to put together a post tomorrow for some pre-show information, notes, etc. For now just be gathering your favorite tid-bits, news, sites, stories, and whatever else.  Should be same time and place as the last show.  If you don’t know the drill then join us in #reddit on the Freenode IRC network.

We are still looking for musicians for opening/closing music. In addition to that, if anyone wants to design logos, or style the /r/podcast site then feel free. If you’re not talented but know of some nice royalty free stuff submit it for the show.

Lots going on this week, so I’m sure we will have plenty to talk about.   If anyone has any suggestions drop us a note.

Anyone who wants to join the show be ready tomorrow in the IRC channel around 9-9:30pm eastern.  We’ll post the number several times during the recording for straggler.  The show should run about 2 hours or so, so remember to charge your talking machines.  You will need to make a long distance phone call to participate,  but I know all you kids have those free nights and weekends.

Ill be up front with all of you and say I am not satisfyed with the level of quality in the recording.  Aside from that it was a huge steaming pile of epicness.   Good Job Kory, Null, and Don.

Again to start with I am using dodgy free file hosting. But for the time being this show has a budget of $0.00 and I suppose that keeps it real and dirtroots. Fine by me.  I went with a different service this week, but I’m sure they will only keep the file for a day or so. So please if you can sumbit it to vuze, or mirror it on your site, and let me know so I can make a link in the blog.

We’re still looking for submissions for music. This weeks into was made by Peel Nerd.  And the closing music came from Reddit.

That’s it for now, just wanted to get the show online.  Again we should have it on torrent, and physical hosting in a day or so.

Ok, so everyone be ready tomorrow Jan 7. We’ll post the call in numbers in the #reddit channel on Freenode before the show which will begin sometime between 8-9:30 eastern. I finally discovered the source of the hum, and it should no longer be an issue. One person has proffered a musical selection for the show. Other that that bit of news, everything should be good to go. There is no set topic or theme, just discussion of news and internet culture.

Well it would seem that the debut episode of the #reddit podcast internet audio production was a success. Several people pointed out an issue with the quality of the recording. I know for a fact it stems from a wiring issue in my home. It only seems to be overly obnoxious when I use a specific phone. Also I discovered at the last minute the Windows version of Audacity is a little different from the Linux version I am familiar with. Minor issues aside, I think we all had a good time, and made an entertaining show.

The date for the next recording will be in the next three days (6,7,8 of ’09).
There has been lots of interesting stuff going on, so be sure to have some notes ready, and charge up your phones. Unless it becomes a major issue it will remain an open show where anyone may participate. The call in number will be posted in #reddit on Freenode shortly before the show will begin.

If anyone has questions, comments, or suggestions please send them! Feel free to comment to this blog, or make a self submission in /r/podcast and ask.redditpodcast a question. If anyone wants to help out, we could use someone to make show notes. We are also looking for groovy royalty free music, or even better – musicians from the community looking for some free promotion.

I did the intro for the first show, and the closing music was mixed by a friend of mine. I may have a link to the 15min set in the future.

This is the first episode, and so we’re trying out different types of links here. Hopefully one of them will work for you. Also, these links will likely EXPIRE, in a couple of weeks, so anyone who wants to mirror the mp3.  Also we can put links to torrent trackers if you are seeding.  I’m sure I’m missing something here, but oh well. The running time is about an hour and forty-five minutes.  The content is uncensored, and many will be offended by it.  It is not safe for home, or at work.  The people who run reddit, the users of reddit, and people who can spell reddit are not going to care if you don’t like the show.
